The Montanas Vacias route is not technical, but with good altitude meters and most of the time the surface is fine gravel. Only in a few places are there larger stones. So our choice of bikes fell on the gravel bikes.
Everyone on the team has a gravel bike built by BenBen. But none of them were the same model. It was a beautiful sight.
We had booked a hotel in Teruel, which is the small town the route starts from. It was a huge luxury hotel, not so much for the quality, but because they had a large basement room where we had to collect the bikes and leave our bike cases for the week we had to cycle the route.
The following morning we stood ready at the city's fountain for a joint departure. As soon as you are outside the town sign, the beautiful, raw landscape begins. People found their own pace and we cruised off. The days flowed together. The gathering was pleasant. Time stood still and we just enjoyed being in each other's company, on the bikes, in the mountains. And we enjoyed good coffee in the small towns. Took water from city fountains. Sleep in a tent. However, it was voted to spend a night in a hotel on the penultimate evening. And on the last day, the group split up, so that those who wanted the full experience completed the loop, while others took a shortcut back towards Teruel.
All in all, a really nice trip with good friends, in the best possible way; namely on a bicycle with full bags.
